Quality education in fine arts

BLDEA's S.S. Arts Institute(Sri Siddeshwara Kalamandira) was established in 1979-80 to provide quality education in fine arts. It offers courses for students and teachers who wish to specialize in fine arts. Though the institute had a humble beginning, it rose to glory quickly, attracting students from various places across the country. It is spread over 5 acres and housed in a spacious building close to the BLDE Medical College.

The faculty and the spacious state-of-the-art infrastructure have created a robust learning atmosphere for the students. Specialized courses are offered with higher studies that can be pursued in Painting and Drawing.

Many eminent personalities have contributed to the growth of the S.S. Arts Institute. Sri C. B. Kachapura headed the institute at the time of its inception. Sri M. S. Jatti, the ex-Principal of the institute, has contributed significantly to the institute's development. He served for a long time as a full-time Principal of the institute till 2011.

BLDEA has conducted events such as state and national level painting competitions, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, debates, etc., to promote the Institute. The Department of Kannada and Culture has granted Rs. 36 lakh. The amount was used to build four art galleries, a Japanese auditorium, and a graphic workshop.

Today, S. S. Arts Institute has grown into a significant force in fine arts education in northern Karnataka. Several dignitaries have visited the Institute and praised its activities. Noted artists from state and outside are invited to the Institute regularly for guest lectures, seminars and workshops.

Besides academics, the institute also aims to promote and sustain local and the nation's art forms.
